Unlike free book clubs, this membership helps sustain:

• The time, effort, and creativity that goes into making this space possible.

Literally Black is a one-woman business—I personally curate, design, pack, ship, and create everything that makes this space what it is. Your membership isn’t just paying for access—it’s supporting a Black-owned business and ensuring this community thrives.

The Cousins come for the conversations. As a member, you’ll receive:
✔ Access to The Gazebo for live book discussions & author talks.
✔ Full access to The Groupchat to stay engaged between meetings.
✔ General public emails + book club meeting links.

This is for those who want to be part of the discussions, even if they don’t need book shipments.

It depends on stock and availability.

• Some book boxes are available to the public and can be purchased individually for $55 plus shipping if there’s overstock.
• Other boxes are exclusive to members and won’t be available for public purchase.

📌 Members always get first access, so availability for non-members is not guaranteed.

When you join The Cookout, you’ll receive the book announced for the month if you sign up before the 15th.

📌 Books are announced on the 15th of each month and shipped on the 1st of the following month.

• If you sign up after the 15th, your first book will be the one announced the following month.
• Missed books may be available as overstock for purchase after the 1st.

Even if you sign up after the cutoff and don’t receive a box right away, you still have full access to your membership perks! This includes:

Membership fees are non-refundable once your billing cycle has started. However, you can cancel anytime before your next billing date to avoid future charges.

Refund Policy:

• New Members (First 48 Hours): If you’re a first-time member and request a refund within 48 hours of signing up, we’ll issue a full refund upon request.
• Monthly Members (After 48 Hours): No refunds are issued once payment has been processed, but you will continue to have access until the end of your billing cycle.

📌 Why? Membership fees cover exclusive content, book shipments, and private access to The Cookout. Once you’ve accessed these benefits, they can’t be reversed, so refunds are not typically offered.

🔄 Cancellations: You can cancel your membership anytime through your account settings, and your benefits will remain active until your next billing date.

You do not have to be Black to join the conversations or to shop with us. We do however encourage that you join with the understanding of who we are and what we do. We will not entertain trolls or anyone coming in to disrupt and cause issues. We amplify Black voices, let that be the understanding.

I’m always excited to discover new books and share them with our community! I choose our monthly book club reads based on a variety of factors, including subject matter, cost, accessibility, and more. While I can only select one book per month for the club to read together, I’m still open to promoting other books on my social media channels.

If your book isn’t selected as a club read, there’s still a chance I might post about it to share with my audience. Unfortunately, with the number of submissions I receive and the fact that our club reads only one book a month, it’s impossible to feature every book in our lineup.
